Many of our staff are NHS-trained and all our Cancer Support Specialists have expert knowledge about cancer and treatment.

Our warm and welcoming centre is a place to unwind, a place to find information or switch off from it, a place to talk about cancer or forget about it – just come in.

Where now? Life after treatment

In centre

Coming to the end of treatment can bring its own challenges. Our six-week course for anyone facing life after cancer. It offers skills and techniques to support you in addressing the physical, emotional and practical issues you might face when your treatment is over. Topics include: emotional wellbeing, returning to work, exercise, healthy eating and staying on track.

The workshop will help you understand cancer and the treatments available, as well as potential side effects, how to manage them and how to look after yourself. It can help you take an active role in your treatment and recovery, and give you a chance to ask questions and share your experiences with people who understand what you’re going through.

It goes without saying that having cancer can be stressful, but there are lots of things we can share with you to help make those feelings more manageable. Our six-week course will introduce you to different methods of relaxation, including: controlling anxious thoughts, meditation visualisation and ‘quick’ or emergency relaxation.

Mindfulness is the art of being aware of, and acknowledging, your thoughts and feelings. Our eight-week course will help you develop skills to manage the physical and emotional challenges that cancer brings.

Getting here by:

Car

We are located inside Gate 3 on Hucknall Road, just off the Valley Road. There are several car parks around but they are often very busy.

The Yellow car park which is situated at Gate 5 on Edwards Lane is around a 5 minute walk down the South Road.

We do have a pick up and drop off point close to our entrance which also serves as a disabled parking bay. There are spaces for two cars.

Public Transport

Several NCT bus routes serve the City Hospital:

The Brown Line numbers: 15, 16, 16c and 17 on the Hucknall Road side and the Purple Line numbers 87, 88 and 89 at the Edwards Lane end.
Trent Barton also have a number of buses that stop at the hospital namely the Rainbow 3, 3A, 3B and 3C
The Medilink free bus service between the Queens Medical Centre and the City Hospital Camp is useful for those travelling from the south side of the city. It also stops at the tram stop at Wilkinson Street so is good for those coming from out of town on the tram. The first Medilink bus stop in the hospital campus is only 100 yards from Maggie’s.

Our beautiful centre was built in 2011. It appears almost to float among the trees that shelter it from the main building of Nottingham City Hospital. Its shape and symmetry create a sense of space and balance – perfect for the delivery of our cancer support.
